Gender Gap in Voter Registration Narrows in Pakistan Yet Rights Groups Say More Work Needed

Islamabad – Pakistan (HRNW)The Election Commission of Pakistan reported a significant reduction in the gender gap among registered voters — dropping from 11.8 % in 2018 to 7.1 % ahead of the 2025 elections.

While authorities hailed the progress as a positive step for electoral inclusion, human rights advocates emphasize that the remaining disparity highlights ongoing challenges to equal civic participation for women.
