French Police Raid X Offices Amid Cybercrime Investigation, Musk and Former CEO Summoned

Paris (HRNW)- French police raided the offices of social media platform X as part of an ongoing cybercrime investigation. The operation, supported by the French Cybercrime Unit and Europol, is examining serious allegations including misuse of algorithms, handling of sexually explicit deepfake content, child sexual abuse imagery, Holocaust denial, and tampering with automated systems.

The investigation initially began in January 2025 and has since expanded in scope. Elon Musk has been summoned to a voluntary hearing in Paris on April 20, 2026, to explain his position and the company’s compliance with French law. Former X CEO Linda Icarino and other staff have also been subpoenaed as witnesses.

The French prosecutor’s office emphasized that the investigation aims to ensure judicial transparency and legal compliance by X, with authorities pursuing the case constructively.
