Federal Government Begins Preparations for Pakistan’s Budget 2026-27, Calls for Business Sector Proposals

Islamabad (HRNW)- The federal government has started preparations for the new budget 2026-27. Budget proposals have been sought from the business sector by January 30, 2026. The tax policy will now be prepared by the Ministry of Finance instead of the FBR. The Tax Policy Office has been given full responsibility for tax reforms.

It has been decided to consult stakeholders in budget preparation. The new budget considers reducing the tax burden on industries, while increasing exports and encouraging foreign investment have been declared a priority.

The government has expressed its determination to promote manufacturing and industrial development. Tax facilities will be considered in the new budget to promote IT and the digital economy.

Eco-friendly and affordable energy projects have been declared a priority, attention will be paid to women’s employment and youth employment, and tax proposals have been directed to be submitted by email or post.

In addition, it has been made mandatory to inform about the possible impact on revenue and economic indicators, tax proposals will have to be informed about the possible impact on a particular business sector, only concrete tax proposals will be given priority during budget preparation.

The Ministry of Finance has also issued a special form for budget proposals, tax proposals, background amendments to laws will also have to be justified.
