Islamabad (HRNW)- The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has set a new record for tax collection in December, collecting Rs 1,427.1 billion in tax revenue, which is 99 percent of the monthly target of Rs 1,446 billion.
FBR officials told Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in a briefing that this is the highest tax collection ever in the month of December of any year. According to officials, the Inland Revenue Service also performed brilliantly, collecting Rs 1,308 billion against the target of Rs 1,310 billion, which is 99.8 percent.
The briefing further informed that tax collection increased by 59 percent during December compared to November. Tax collection in November was Rs 898 billion, which increased to Rs 1,427.1 billion in December.
According to officials, tax collection has improved significantly due to the FBR’s improved strategy and effective measures, on which the Finance Minister expressed satisfaction.
