Paris (HRNW) – EU leaders have firmly stated that no peace agreement regarding the Russia-Ukraine war can be finalized without the direct involvement of Ukraine and European countries.

After a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Elysee Palace in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized that any peace plan must include Ukraine and European nations at the negotiation table.
According to China Daily, President Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and several other European leaders adopted a unified stance, declaring that no proposal for peace can be discussed without Europe’s participation alongside Ukraine.
Macron added that critical issues—such as frozen Russian assets, security guarantees, and Ukraine’s potential membership in the European Union—can only be addressed with European partners.
President Zelensky said Ukraine has attempted to end the war with dignity, but regional issues remain the most complex for future negotiations.

In Berlin, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, alongside Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, reiterated that no decision involving Ukraine or Europe is possible without including the relevant parties.
Donald Tusk reaffirmed Poland and Germany’s support for Ukraine and highlighted joint efforts to strengthen European security.
Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics also stressed the necessity of Europe’s role in any future peace discussions.
