DUET Karachi Celebrates 13th Convocation as Sindh CM Praises University’s Remarkable Progress

Karachi (HRNW) – Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, addressing the 13th convocation of Dawood University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) Karachi, highlighted the university’s extraordinary growth and achievements in a short period. He noted that since 2023, DUET has undergone a renaissance, achieving development, stability, and quality improvements across all areas.

The Chief Minister said that DUET has invested Rs 750 million from its own resources to improve infrastructure, including a modern auditorium, sports ground, student residences, specialized labs, and new classrooms. He praised the university’s transparent management and innovative revenue models for turning it into a self-sufficient institution.

CM Shah commended Vice Chancellor Engr Prof Dr Samreen Hussain, Pakistan’s first female Engineering Vice Chancellor, for her leadership in transforming the university, boosting research output, and achieving a significant rise in QS Asia Rankings, SDG Times Index, and Youth Development Program scores.

Of the 620 students graduating this year, 413 received degrees, with 66% already employed and overall employability for full degree holders nearly 100%. Industry linkages, micro-degree programs, and alumni support were highlighted as key factors in this success.

The Chief Minister encouraged graduates to enter their professional careers with integrity, innovation, and service, while acknowledging the efforts of parents, teachers, and staff in supporting the students’ achievements.
