Islamabad (HRNW)- According to the latest report of the Federal Bureau of Statistics, despite the decline in inflation in the country, the prices of 12 essential commodities have increased. On a weekly basis, inflation was recorded at a decrease of 0.48 percent, while the overall annual inflation rate has reached 4.18 percent.
The report states that during the last week, the prices of 12 essential commodities increased, the prices of 11 commodities became cheaper and the prices of 28 remained stable. The following were the significant increases in prices: tomatoes 9.83 percent, bananas 3.66 percent, flour 2.27 percent. In addition, the prices of sugar, eggs and firewood have also increased.
On the other hand, the prices of some commodities have also decreased, such as chicken 16.68 percent, potatoes 8.52 percent, onions 7.27 percent cheaper. The prices of ghee, cooking oil and LPG have also decreased.
According to the weekly report, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded 333.60 points in the week ending January 22, compared to 335.20 points in the previous week and 320.21 points on January 23 last year.
