Lahore (HRNW)– Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her strong anger over the incidents of arresting and handcuffing minor students for violating traffic rules and ordered the relevant institutions to immediately stop this practice.
A decision in principle was also taken in the meeting chaired by the Chief Minister to issue smart cards and motorcycle driving licenses to children aged 16. Traffic police across the province announced a special awareness week to create awareness among the public, especially students.

It was decided in the meeting that only a warning challan will be issued for the first violation of not wearing a helmet, while the use of drones and body cams is also being started for the first time for effective traffic monitoring.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that

It is the responsibility of parents more than minor children to guide their children about traffic rules.
Traffic rules are made to save the lives of the public, so every citizen will have to change their habits for their own safety.
“We don’t want to arrest innocent children, but it is necessary to uphold the law.”
“It is not the children’s fault, we did not instill in them the habit of wearing helmets.” He urged parents to educate their children about road safety and the importance of helmets.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed the traffic police to treat the public, especially students, with respect and dignity, while completely avoiding immorality and misbehavior.
During the briefing, it was informed that 2445 police vehicles have also come under the purview of the law for violating traffic rules, and action is being taken against them.
