CM KP Sohail Afridi Warns of Pakhtun Jirga Over Tirah Valley Evacuation Notification

Peshawar (HRNW)- Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi has issued a strong warning, stating that if the federal government does not withdraw the notification regarding the evacuation of the Tirah Valley, he will convene a jirga of the entire Pakhtun nation.

Addressing participants of the Street Movement rally in Mingora, the Chief Minister said the notification claims that the Tirah victims are migrating voluntarily, which he termed unacceptable. He demanded that the notification be withdrawn and a formal apology be issued. He added that if this does not happen, he will first call a jirga of the Afridi tribe, followed by a jirga of the entire Pakhtun nation. He further stated that if the situation worsens, he will personally lead the displaced families back to Tirah.

Sohail Afridi alleged that after returning from Islamabad, press conferences were held in Peshawar questioning the approval of his name. He stressed that no institution should interfere in politics or object to his appointment, saying his name was put forward by his political leadership.

The Chief Minister also claimed that multiple attempts were made to prevent him from becoming Chief Minister. He said false narratives were created linking him to militants, and when those failed, three options were presented: imposition of Governor’s Rule, his disqualification, or his assassination. He asserted that after the failure of the first two options, threats to his life were being propagated.
