Peshawar (HRNW)- Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi has claimed that civil martial law is being imposed in Punjab and alleged that the rulers there are products of dictatorial systems.
Addressing participants at the Youth Convention held at Nishtar Hall, CM Sohail Afridi said that the overall situation in Pakistan is deteriorating rapidly and that political and institutional conditions are worsening day by day. He emphasized that the youth are the true hope of the nation and said that greatness comes from having big dreams, adding that although he became Chief Minister, moving the country forward remains the real objective.
Sohail Afridi alleged that there is civil martial law in Punjab and that PTI MNAs are being harassed, with their vehicles and weapons being tampered with. He further claimed that Bushra Bibi, who has no involvement in politics, has also been imprisoned and that disrespectful actions are being carried out against the family of the PTI founder. He said that one provincial chief minister is placed on a stop list, while another is allowed to travel abroad on a large aircraft, highlighting what he called a double standard.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister also criticized the federal government over the merger of FATA, saying that no financial support has been provided despite promises. He alleged that the IMF had raised serious objections and that ministers had caused losses amounting to trillions of rupees.
Sohail Afridi said that the people of Tirah have been forcibly displaced and stressed that military operations are not a permanent solution to terrorism. He said that terrorism increases instead of decreasing through force and emphasized the need for dialogue by bringing religious and political parties together to form a comprehensive policy.
He further stated that the federation is treating Khyber Pakhtunkhwa unfairly and added that raising one’s voice is better than attending funerals. He vowed that decisions taken behind closed doors would not be accepted this time.
