Karachi (HRNW)- After the Gul Plaza tragedy, the poor performance and administrative condition of the Civil Defense Sindh office has been exposed. According to a private TV investigation, the provincial Civil Defense’s main office is in a very dilapidated condition and the office management is affected due to severe shortage of staff.
The report states that the number of staff in the office is very small while the number of stray dogs is more than the staff. There are piles of dirt in places inside the office and signs of short circuit have been seen in the central board. There is a garbage can outside the office and there is a lack of cleanliness in places, which makes the office look like a ghost bungalow.
Two Civil Defense officers were suspended immediately after the Gul Plaza tragedy, but the poor condition of the office reflects the overall poor performance of this institution. The report says that the dilapidated condition and poor management of the Civil Defense Sindh are a serious threat to the safety of citizens and urgent reforms are needed.
