CDA Probe Launched After Contractor Cuts Down All Trees Instead of Allergy-Causing Mulberry in Islamabad

Islamabad (HRNW)- The Capital Development Authority (CDA) had issued a tender for cutting down wild mulberry trees that cause pollen allergies as per the order of the Supreme Court, however, the contractor went beyond the specified limits and cut down all the trees in an area of 3 to 4 acres.

According to the CDA, under the tender, it was decided that the wild mulberry trees that cause pollen allergies should be cut down and replaced with eco-friendly local trees, but the contractor removed all the trees from an area of about four acres without any marking or identification.

Sources said that after this irresponsible act, a vast area in the federal capital became empty of every tree, which is likely to affect the environment and the air of the citizens. The CDA has just started a detailed investigation into the matter.
