Breakthrough Agreement: Punjab Government and Scholars Finalize Online Madrassah Registration

Lahore, Pakistan (HRNW)- Following four months of intensive negotiations, the Punjab Government and prominent religious scholars have successfully reached a consensus on the registration process for religious seminaries (Madrassahs). According to the Punjab Home Department, all reservations held by the Ittehad-e-Tanzeemat-e-Madaris have been addressed, paving the way for a streamlined registration process set to officially launch on February 3. To ensure ease and transparency, a specialized online portal has been developed in consultation with the Charity Commission, the Education Department, and religious leadership, allowing institutions to submit their data digitally without the need for physical office visits. Training for IT staff within these seminaries is currently underway to facilitate a smooth transition, marking a significant step toward the formal integration and effective oversight of religious education across the province.
