Washington (HRNW)- A blizzard has intensified in the United States, with more than a foot of snow falling in many areas, some areas experiencing the coldest temperatures in a decade, and 29 people have died in various accidents.
A powerful winter storm has caused heavy snowfall, hail and sleet in various parts of the United States, and millions of people were facing dangerously low temperatures and widespread power outages on Monday. The National Weather Service and local governments have warned that this situation could persist for several days.
According to preliminary data from the National Weather Service, the storm has dropped more than a foot of snow in at least 19 states, from New Mexico to Maine, and at least 29 deaths have been reported across the country, with many deaths due to hypothermia and medical emergencies that occurred during snow removal.
This winter storm has caused more than $100 billion in damage to the United States. Frost warnings have been issued for approximately 200 million people in 44 states, and states of emergency have been declared in 24 states.
