Karachi, Pakistan (HRNW)- Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has announced that the Sindh government is making significant strides in the health sector by providing expensive medical treatments, including cancer care, free of charge. During a high-level briefing, he emphasized that the provincial government has prioritized strengthening the healthcare infrastructure to ensure international standards are accessible to all citizens.
He highlighted that Jinnah Hospital has been upgraded to a world-class facility, and the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) continues to provide free heart surgeries and treatments. According to the Chairman, 11 NICVD-style specialized hospitals have been established across Sindh, serving over 2.9 million patients in the last year alone.
Turning to education, Bilawal noted a major expansion in higher education; while Sindh had only 10 universities in 2008, that number has now grown to 30. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to social safety nets, noting that the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) remains a cornerstone for providing financial assistance to the province’s most vulnerable populations.
