Bangladesh Condemns India for Allowing Sheikh Hasina’s Address from New Delhi

Dhaka (HRNW)- Bangladesh has strongly protested India’s decision to permit former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to address a public event in New Delhi, calling it an insult to the Bangladeshi people.

The Bangladeshi Foreign Ministry said that allowing Sheikh Hasina, a fugitive convicted of crimes against humanity, to speak in such a manner threatens peace, security, and the democratic process in Bangladesh.

On January 23, Sheikh Hasina delivered an audio address to her supporters during the event in New Delhi, reportedly inciting her loyalists against the current government and attempting to influence the upcoming general elections.

The statement added that the continuous inflammatory statements by the leadership of Sheikh Hasina’s party, Awami League, justify why the interim government imposed restrictions on their activities.
