At Least 200 Killed in Deadly Coltan Mine Landslide, Rescue Operations Underway

Congo (HRNW)- At least 200 workers, including women and children, have been killed in a sudden landslide at a mine in the eastern Congo region of Colton. According to authorities, there is a fear that the death toll will rise further.

At the time of the incident, men, women and children were busy mining in the mine when a sudden landslide occurred. Due to the intensity, no one present there had a chance to escape. The government took immediate notice and sent heavy machinery for rescue operations.

According to international media, this incident occurred three days ago, but the news came to light after the death toll increased. More than 200 families were affected by the accident, while many of the dozens of injured are said to be in critical condition.

The department authorities have intensified relief and rescue operations to prevent further damage and provide timely medical assistance to the injured.
