Armed Robbery in Defense Raises Alarm Over Rising Street Crime in Karachi

Karachi – Pakistan (HRNW)- Street crime has once again spiraled out of control in Karachi, as a brazen daylight robbery at a mobile phone shop in the upscale Defence area’s Badr Commercial has raised serious concerns about law enforcement and city security.

According to reports, four to five armed robbers stormed into a mobile store and looted the premises for nearly ten minutes without any interruption. CCTV footage shows the suspects calmly holding the staff at gunpoint while emptying shelves and display racks filled with high-end smartphones.

Initial estimates suggest the robbers escaped with mobile phones and valuables worth Rs. 7 to 8 million. The heist occurred without resistance or gunfire, and the perpetrators fled easily from one of the city’s most secure commercial districts.

The video has sparked public outrage, with citizens questioning police performance and security measures in Karachi’s elite zones. A case has been registered, and police have launched an investigation, though no arrests or recoveries have been made so far.

Residents of the area say the incident shows that criminal elements now operate fearlessly, highlighting an alarming erosion of public safety and confidence in law enforcement.
