Ankara (HRNW)– Turkey is looking to partner with Pakistan in its fifth-generation fighter jet program and expand drone manufacturing, according to a Bloomberg report. Turkish officials said that a drone manufacturing facility will be set up in Pakistan, part of Ankara’s drive to grow its defense industry globally.

Significant progress has been made in talks since October, which will allow Turkey to export advanced, long-range drones manufactured in Pakistan. The discussions form part of Turkey’s strategy to enhance its defense industry and expand influence in the Middle East and beyond.
Turkey and Pakistan already maintain longstanding friendly relations, including joint warfare programs and F-16 upgrades, and now Turkey aims to include Pakistan in its fifth-generation fighter program. Earlier this year, Turkey announced a deal to sell warplanes to Indonesia and plans further defense exports to Saudi Arabia and Syria.
Holk Gorgan, head of the Turkish President’s Defense Industry Organization, reported that Turkey’s defense exports have risen 30 percent in the first 11 months of the year, reaching a record $7.5 billion.
