Allied Security Advisers Meet in Kyiv to Finalize US-Brokered Ukraine Peace Plan

Kyiv (HRNW)- Security advisers from Ukraine’s key allies met in the Ukrainian capital to discuss a US-brokered peace plan aimed at ending the war with Russia. Ukrainian officials said the plan is around 90 percent complete.

The meeting was attended by representatives from 15 countries, including Britain, France, and Germany, along with officials from NATO and the European Union.

US Special Envoy Steve Wittkoff participated in the meeting via video link. This marked the first major diplomatic engagement of the new year, while another meeting of European leaders is expected to take place in France on Tuesday.

According to Ukraine’s chief negotiator Rustam Umarov, the initial phase of talks focused on security guarantees, the framework of the peace plan, and future joint actions. However, he acknowledged that serious differences remain between Russia and Ukraine regarding post-war borders and territorial issues.
