New Delhi (HRNW)- Air India has grounded one of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners after a pilot reported a problem with a fuel control switch during a flight. This is the same system that was central to last year’s investigation into a fatal plane crash.
The airline stated that the plane was grounded as a precaution, and the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) was called in immediately to review the pilot’s concerns. India’s aviation regulator has also been informed. Boeing and India’s civil aviation ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Air India, owned by the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, has faced intense scrutiny since the June 2025 Dreamliner crash that killed 260 people. The airline noted that all fuel control switches on its Boeing 787 fleet were inspected last year under regulator instructions, with no faults found at the time. According to reports, the cockpit recording from the June 12 accident shows the captain had stopped the flow of fuel to the engines, a key point in the US authorities’ initial investigation.
