Afghan Taliban Unwilling to Act Against TTP, Mediation Efforts Fail

Islamabad (HRNW)- The American journal Foreign Policy has reported that the Afghan Taliban appear unwilling to take effective action against the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) due to ideological and practical proximity.

The report notes that mediation efforts by Qatar, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia have also failed to convince the Taliban to take strong measures against the TTP. Foreign Policy states that the Taliban leadership has yet to adopt a clear and practical strategy on the issue.

According to the journal, growing ties between the Taliban and India have further complicated the situation, and the Afghan Taliban could leverage tensions with Pakistan to strengthen their political and ideological credibility domestically.
