Afaq Ahmed Visits Gul Plaza, Honors Firefighter Martyred During Rescue, Calls for Support to Victims

Karachi (HRNW) — Chairman Afaq Ahmed visited Gul Plaza to encourage the affected traders and show solidarity with them. Following his visit, he went to the home of Firhan, a young firefighter who was martyred saving lives during the rescue operation, to pay his respects to the family.

Afaq Ahmed urged trader organizations to set aside their differences and demonstrate unity during this difficult time. He welcomed the announcement by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to provide Rs. 1 crore per affected trader, describing it as encouraging. However, he emphasized that the announcement should be implemented immediately, and the Chief Minister should take concrete steps to ensure prompt relief.

He stated that while loss of life cannot be compensated, serious efforts must be made to address financial losses. Afaq Ahmed highlighted that the Gul Plaza traders were preparing for Ramadan, and called for temporary shops to be allotted at the Parking Plaza, allowing them to resume business without vacating the site before alternatives are provided.
