US Seeks UN Approval for International Security Force in Gaza

Washington (HRNW)- The United States has requested the United Nations Security Council to approve the establishment of an International Security Force (ISF) in Gaza, which will be deployed for at least two years.

According to the American website Axios, the United States has sent a draft resolution to the UNSC member states, which includes the powers, responsibilities and details of the establishment of the force.

According to the report, the force will be formed in consultation with the Gaza Peace Board, which will be chaired by US President Donald Trump.

According to the draft, the force will be tasked with border security in Gaza, protecting civilians and aid corridors, training the Palestinian police, and demilitarizing the area.

The force will have the authority to take all necessary measures in accordance with international law to fulfill its mandate.

The report states that the ISF will be an enforcement force, not a peacekeeping mission. Its purpose is to provide interim security in Gaza so that Israel can gradually withdraw from the area and the Palestinian Authority can take over after reforms.
