Peshawar (HRNW)- A large-scale drug smuggling network from Afghanistan to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been exposed.
According to sources, large-scale drugs are being smuggled from Afghanistan to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Tirah Valley, where drug mafia and terrorist groups (Khawarij) are involved in illegal activities together.
Sources say that drugs are being cultivated on about 12,000 acres in different areas of Tirah Valley and Khyber, from which illegal profits of $1.8 to $2.5 million are being earned.
According to them, a large part of this profit is given to Khawarij, who use it to finance terrorism and protect illegal businesses.
Sources revealed that this drug cultivation is going on under political patronage, and operations in Tirah Valley are opposed due to the “political-terror crime nexus”.
It was further reported that 198 people were martyred and injured in various terrorist incidents in Khyber District this year, the responsibility for which lies entirely with the nexus of political, criminal and terrorist groups.
