80 Killed, 873 Injured in Traffic Accidents During January 2026: Chhipa Foundation

Karachi (HRNW)- During the first month of the new year 2026, a total of 80 people, including women, children and girls, died in traffic accidents in Karachi during January, while 873 people were injured.

According to the data released by Chhipa Foundation spokesperson Chaudhry Shahid, the deaths include 59 men, 9 women, 11 children and one girl. Similarly, the total number of injured is 873, including 695 men, 125 women, 39 children and 14 girls.

According to the spokesperson, a total of 21 people lost their lives in traffic accidents involving heavy vehicles in Shahr-e-Quaid during January. Of these, 10 people died in a collision with a trailer, while 5 died in a collision with a water tanker, 4 in a collision with a bus and 2 in a collision between a dumper and a Mazda.

Meanwhile, a young man riding a motorcycle was seriously injured in a traffic accident in North Karachi, who was shifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he died. According to SHO Sir Syed Farrukh Hashmi, the deceased was identified as 17-year-old Ahsan Bilal, who was riding a motorcycle with his friend Zohaib.

Meanwhile, 35-year-old Hassan, who was a passerby, died in a traffic accident that occurred near Banaras Chowk in Orangi Town.

According to statistics, the increasing traffic accidents in the city have become a serious challenge for citizens and relevant institutions, which requires effective measures to control.
