Pakistan Election Commission refutes the report in a section of print and electronic media

Islamabad (HRNW)- It has been reported in a section of Print and Electronic Media that the Election Commission of Pakistan has started probe in the financial affairs of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP), and summoned them on 26 November 2019 before the probe committee. The wrong impression created by the news item needs to be clarified as under.
In November 2017, one Mr. Farrukh Habib of PTI filed a complaint before the Election Commission of Pakistan, alleging inter alia incorporation of a Company in USA by PPP, and collection of prohibited funds and their transfer in to Pakistan.
On 25 June 2018, the Election Commission assigned this complaint for probe of allegations to the same committee, formed for probe of PTIs Foreign Funding case, filed by Mr. Akber S. Babar. However, so far the Complainant has failed to file a single piece of evidence in support of his wild allegations.
In most of the hearings, the Complainant remained absent from the proceedings of the probe committee, requesting adjournment on one pretext or the other. Out of last six hearings the, on five occasions the Complainant absented himself from probe committee proceedings, and due to his absence on the last date of hearing on 12 November 2019, the case was put off for hearing to 26 November 2019.
Therefore, the impression that the Election Commission of Pakistan has started probe in the financial affairs of Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians is false, incorrect and misleading.
